GETTING STARTED
We try to make the admissions process simple. To enroll, we would have you interview with an Assistant Director of Admissions either in person or by phone. If everything looks good, then you would simply fill out an Application for Admission and an Enrollment Agreement
HOW TO APPLY
A prospective student seeking admission must be a high school graduate, or hold a General Education Development (GED) certificate, or have earned an associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution of postsecondary education as a prerequisite to admission. Students who have completed high school or its equivalent, but who cannot provide the necessary documentation, may provide alternate documentation to satisfy this requirement. The President of The Art Institute of Houston must approve all exceptions. High school seniors who have not yet graduated should submit a partial transcript that indicates their expected graduation date.
All applicants are evaluated on the basis of their previous education, background, and stated or demonstrated interest in art, animation, interior design, multimedia, or culinary arts. Portfolios for those interested in Media Arts & Animation are required. For all other programs they are welcomed, but not required. Applicants who have taken the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Test (ACT) are encouraged to submit scores to the Admissions Office for evaluation.
The Art Institute of Houston tests incoming students as to their preparedness to undertake college-level course work in English and mathematics. Students found to need assistance in English and/or math may be required to enroll in appropriate Transitional Studies courses offered by the school.
