“Emerging Talent,” A Juried Exhibition of Work by Decatur Students Opens April 17 at The Art Institute of Atlanta — Decatur

DECATUR (GA) – Art works by 22 junior and senior students at Academe of the Oak and Decatur High School have been selected for inclusion in “Emerging Talent,” a juried exhibition sponsored by The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur. The exhibit, which runs through May 29, opens with a special reception on Friday evening, April 17, from 6 to 9 pm. The top two entries will be awarded tuition scholarships to The Art Institute of Atlanta – Decatur. The teacher who mentors the first-place winner will receive a Hewlett Packard DC5800 PC for their classroom as an appreciation of their contributions.
 
Academe of the Oaks students include Ariel Buck, Shaunte Francois, Mariella Handschin, Raphael Leibbrandt, Alex Mello, Julia Ruff, and Margaret Sheehan.

Decatur High School students include Mettie Calfee, Andrea Gottardy, Jane Harrison, Megan Horan, Ryan James, Hana Kreiner, Roberta Moore, Addison Morrare, Jessica Ramsey, Will Rhodes, Pete Samuels, Daniel Shaffer, Egan Marie Connor Short, Catherine Thibadeau, and Forest Van Hoene.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur to recognize the talent and commitment of the high schools in Decatur and of young emerging artists in our community,” said Sarah Gorham, associate dean of academic affairs at the college.

The exhibit will be on view in The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur Gallery, One West Court Square, Suite 110, Decatur, GA 30030, through May 29.
