Gallery 1820 at The Art Institute of Washington Exhibits First Fashion Showcase
Apparel from around the globe with an influence on contemporary fashion on display
ARLINGTON, Va., September 30, 2009— The Art Institute of Washington and Gallery 1820 presents its first fashion-inspired gallery showcase: Cross Culture: Global Influences on Contemporary Fashion, featuring a collection of apparel from North America, South America, Asia, Africa and Europe that reflect multiculturalism and a genre of international contemporary fashion. The showcase will be on display in the Gallery 1820 exhibit space until October 31, 2009.
The exhibition illustrates the influence of globalization on fashion as it connects traditional cultures and the modern metropolis through materials, color, historical context, style and design. Designers include: Stella Bonds, Ean Williams, David Joseph, Isolda Marie Meade, Rosah Chaava and Riffat Zamman. The exihibition photography is by Yulia Gorbachenko.
An opening reception will be held at Gallery 1820 on Thursday, October 8th, from 5:30 p.m until 8:30 p.m., and is open to the public. Gallery 1820 is located at The Art Institute of Washington, 1820 North Fort Myer Drive Arlington, VA 22209.
